The much-awaited Women’s T20 Challenge returns to the fold for its fourth season after a gap of one year. The three-team competition will run between May 23-28 at the Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Pune.

Stalwarts Mithali Raj and Jhulan Goswami have been left out of the tournament along with pacer Shikha Pandey, who also failed to make the cut for the ICC Women’s ODI World Cup earlier this year. Another notable omission is Karnataka’s Veda Krishnamurthy.

Seasoned all-rounder Deepti Sharma will lead the Velocity side in place of Mithali while Railways captain Sneh Rana will work as her deputy. Smriti Mandhana and Harmanpreet Kaur will continue to captain Trailblazers and Supernovas respectively.

Nagaland’s Kiran Navgire, who grabbed the headlines with her whirlwind knocks in the domestic T20 competition last month, will be part of the Velocity squad. Maharashtra's Aarti Kedar and Odisha's Sujata Mallik, who were the top two wickets-takers, have also found teams in the upcoming Women’s T20 Challenge.
