The Bangladesh team is emerging across age groups and will become a massive threat after a few years. It's because of the talent that's coming through. They have had their spin attack sorted, but now we are seeing the pace attack match step-to-step with their spin attack to build a formidable force for the future.

FIXTURES:

Bangladesh is placed in Group A with Australia, Sri Lanka, and the USA.

SQUAD:

The squad has 3 players with 13 international caps - Marufa Akter (5), Rabeya Khan (4), & Dilara Akter (4).

RECENT FORM:

Bangladesh automatically qualified for the inaugural U-19 T20 World Cup being an ICC full-member nation. In September, the Bangladesh U-19 side played Malaysia in a 5-match T20 practice series when Malaysia were in Bangladesh. They registered a comfortable 5-0 series victory over the Malaysians. They had a successful run in the warm-ups by defeating South Africa & India.

PLAYERS TO WATCH OUT FOR:

Marufa Akter - Bangladesh has a very strong chance of progressing from the group stage and also getting a win or two in the Super Six. The name you'd see featured as a major contributor in those wins is going to be Marufa Akter. A right-arm pacer who nips the ball back in sharply at a decent pace. She made her debut for the senior team recently and managed to impress. In her short career so far, she has already taken the wickets of Sophie Devine, Lea Tahuhu, & another player in this tournament - Georgia Plimmer. She is one of the top 5 pacers to watch out for in this competition.

Before the official warm-ups got underway, the Bangladesh U-19s had a practice game against the Lion U-19 Invitational. While the game ended as NR, it wasn't before Marufa registered 2-1-1-4 to reduce the Lions' U-19 to 4/5 (3.5). She cleaned up all 4 batters for ducks.

Shorna Akter - Shorna Akter is already making rounds with her impactful performances. None gained more attention than her 75* (54) against India which was a knock laced with 7x6s. The vice-captain is Bangladesh's most important batter in the upcoming tournament.

Afia Anam Prottasha - Afia is an aggressive player & likes to get going early. She made a quickfire 26 (16) against Lions U-19 with 4x4s & 1x6. She was also the 2nd highest run-scorer for Bangladesh in their win against India in the warm-ups.

Disha Biswas - Captain Disha Biswas was rewarded for her performance against Malaysia with a national call-up after picking the most wickets (8) in the series. But the all-rounder has more to offer. She is a powerful striker of the ball and likes to use her feet against the spinners.

Dilara Akter - Dilara Akter was the top-scorer for Bangladesh U-19s when they toured Malaysia for a 5-match practice series. She finished with 157 runs at an SR of 164 to become another player who earned a national call-up to represent the senior team for their tour to New Zealand.

Rabeya Khan - Rabeya Khan brings variety to the Bangladesh bowling side. The wrist-spinner is the youngest player ever to have played for the Bangladesh senior team as she went on to make her T20I debut at the age of just 14 against Nepal. If that was not enough to prove her worth, then here's another fact - Rabeya Khan registered 4/8 on her debut, which is the 6th best figure on debut in T20Is.

PREDICTIONS:

This team has enough match-winners to help them progress well beyond the group stage. It remains to be seen how they go in the Super 6s, but none of their wins shall come as a major surprise since it's a talented unit.
