The preparations begin for the World Cup and what better than taking on the hosts of the tournament in a five match ODI series?

VENUE: John Davies Oval, Queenstown

As expected, the ball swung early in the only T20I and then the pitch was a belter for batting. The same trend will continue for the 1st game as well. As the series progresses, there will be marginal deterioration.

India has won the last two series against New Zealand. The last time they toured New Zealand, they won 2-1. One thing to note is that in all the 3 games, the team batting first was bundled out very cheaply.

ODI #1: 192/10 vs. 193/1

ODI #2: 161/10 vs. 166/2

ODI #3: 149/10 vs. 153/2

I don’t expect the case to be similar for tomorrow’s game. Why? It’s a different venue than those three games. While there could be low scores at some stage in this series, but 220 can be crossed easily.

HEAD-TO-HEAD (Last 5 games)

New Zealand - 1 | India - 4

PROBABLE XIs:

New Zealand: Lauren Down, Suzie Bates, Amy Satterthwaite, Sophie Devine (C), Katey Martin (Wk), Maddy Green, Amelia Kerr, Hannah Rowe/Frances Mackay, Hayley Jansen, Lea Tahuhu, Jess Kerr

India: Yastika Bhatia, Shafali Verma, Mithali Raj (C), Harmanpreet Kaur, Richa Ghosh (Wk), Deepti Sharma, Pooja Vastrakar, Rajeshwari Gayakwad, Sneh Rana, Simran Bahadur, Jhulan Goswami

MUST-HAVES:

  • Amelia Kerr
  • Sophie Devine
  • Lea Tahuhu
  • Suzie Bates

India:

  • Deepti Sharma
  • Richa Ghosh.
  • Jhulan Goswami
