India will lock horns against Sri Lanka in a three-match T20I series followed by as many ODIs,which start on June 23. Dambulla will host all the T20Is, while Pallekele will be the home for the one-dayers.

The Women in Blue will be without former captain Mithali Raj, who announced her retirement, and pace spearhead Jhulan Goswami. It will be an opportunity for the youngsters to stake a claim with a couple of important series lined up.

India had a camp at the National Cricket Academy in Bengaluru under the watchful eyes of Ramesh Powar. NCA chief VVS Laxman also interacted with the cricketers. Skipper Harmanpreet Kaur stressed that this camp will be important to building the team.

“We are working hard on our team, we have great combinations. And for us, it is a good tour to start, because first-time we are going to play without our seniors and a great opportunity for all of us to build a team,” she said while addressing reports before leaving India.

Sri Lanka, on the other hand, have mostly retained the squad that played against Pakistan earlier this year. All members of the playing elevens chosen for the matches are part of the squad. Chamari Athapaththu will lead the side.

A thrilling series is on the cards with some exciting players from both sides of the roster.
