The drill for the World Cup begins. But, it’s just not an ordinary drill. It’s the Ashes and every game is held in the highest regard. The stakes have increased with the multi-format series being very close and everything comes down to these 3 games which will decide whether Australia retains the Ashes or England regain it.

VENUE: Manuka Oval, Canberra

It will swing early in both innings. Besides, it should be a good track to score runs and 240+ shall be achieved irrespective of what bats first.

HEAD-TO-HEAD (Last 5 games)

Australia - 4 | England - 1

PROBABLE XIs:

Australia: Alyssa Healy (WK), Beth Mooney, Meg Lanning (C), Ellyse Perry, Rachael Haynes, Ash Gardner, Tahlia McGrath, Jess Jonassen, Alana King, Darcie Brown/Stella Campbell, Megan Schutt

England: Danni Wyatt, Tammy Beaumont, Nat Sciver, Heather Knight (C), Amy Jones (WK), Sophia Dunkley, Katherine Brunt, Sophie Ecclestone, Charlotte Dean/Sarah Glenn, Kate Cross, Anya Shrubsole/Tash Farrant

MUST-HAVES:

  • Ellyse Perry has started to get back into the rhythm and contribute with the ball. Tahlia McGrath cannot be left out on her form.
  • Megan Schutt will be back for the ODIs after being rested and is the key with the new ball and her leg-cutters at the death.
  • Beth Mooney and Meg Lanning are Australia’s key batters.
  • Back Alyssa Healy to come good in this series.
  • Jess Jonassen is one of the top white-ball formats in women’s cricket. While she has struggled to pick up wickets, you cannot leave her out just like Sophie Ecclestone.
  • Nat Sciver and Heather Knight are England’s crucial players.
X-FACTORS:

  • Stella Campbell has been added to the squad in place of Tayla Vlaeminck. She might possibly find a spot in the XI straight away as this is the very venue where she recently registered figures of 7/25 in a One Day Domestic game.
  • Alana King can be picked at the expense of Tahlia McGrath or Ellyse Perry.
